"Star Trek: Discovery" is now in production, according to a teaser recently released by CBS.

It is no secret that CBS's new "Star Trek" television series has had more than its fair share of problems in its quest to hit the small screen. Development of the show, including its casting, had relatively been slow. Not only has its air date been delayed twice, but its showrunner also departed from the series. Hence, many "Star Trek" fans were beginning to worry if the TV series will ever get to see the light of day.

However, it looks like CBS is determined to temper these worries with the launch of the teaser and behind-the-scene sneak peek of the production of "Star Trek: Discovery." As reported by Polygon, the teaser featured enticing details about the development of the show. It also provided a glimpse at the Discovery crew's Starfleet uniforms as well as some alien (possibly Klingon) wardrobe.

The sneak peek also shared a glance at the new captain's chair, although it is not yet certain who will be filling in that seat since the actor tapped for the role has not been officially announced. Fans will also get a good look at the revised "Star Trek: Discovery" logo, which is reportedly more polished than the one released last year.

The cast of "Star Trek: Discovery" will be led by Sonequa Martin-Green (known for her role in "The Walking Dead") as the lieutenant commander of the starship Discovery. The actress will be joined by cast members Michelle Yeoh as Georgiou, the captain of the USS Shenzhou; Doug Jones as science officer Saru; Anthony Rapp as science officer Stamets; and James Frain as Vulcan astrophysicist Sarek.

"Star Trek: Discovery" was previously slated for release this May, but is reportedly delayed, and the new premiere date has not been announced yet. All of its episodes will be streamed online on CBS All Access, with its pilot episode premiering on CBS.
