'Star Wars: Battlefront 2' news: EA DICE producer promises well-honed campaign mode tied up to entire game narrative

It is no secret that the main caveat of "Star Wars: Battlefront" is its lack of campaign mode. While the video game banners an immersive "Star Wars" experience, a lot of players held back in purchasing the title due to the absence of a single-player feature, which could very much work on its action-adventure genre. That being said, Electronic Arts (EA) is wasting no time making up for the missed opportunity, with the game-developing company already talking about the possibility of adding the much-clamored mode in the next full iteration of the title.

In a recent conversation with Eurogamer, DICE producer Paul Keslin openly shared that they endeavor to give fans what they want in "Star Wars: Battlefront II." In fact, it sounds like they have already realized that it was a misstep not incorporating a campaign format in the game. And while they would very much like to address that, it was already too late to fully apply the feature in the already released game. However, he notes that they tried to appease the gamers via the release of the Death Star downloadable content (DLC) and the most recent pack in Rogue One.

"We know that players want that, we're not able to give them a full-fledged campaign post-launch for Battlefront, but how can we scratch that itch a bit? It's been received okay — I think some people appreciate it," he said. "We've been listening to a lot of the feedback since launch and even post-launch as we've been adding new things. We've announced the next game that's coming out — those are things [we] look to tackle in the future. We can't always get everything in the current game, but in the future we want to hit those things and give the fans what they're after."

Keslin also promised that although they are eager to put in the single-player feature in the next iteration of the franchise, they are trying to make sure that it ties well with the rest of the game. This makes a great parallel to the "Star Wars" films and other media for the lore in which everything seems to connect in some ways.

With a lot of things to look forward to in "Star Wars: Battlefront II," it is a good thing that the game has already nabbed a release date scheduled for next year. With EA promising good things coming to the follow-up title such as the campaign mode as well as a new setting mined from contemporary sources, it might finally be worth the buy once these improvements have already been made.
