'Star Wars: Battlefront' DLC news: 'Death Star' DLC release date, trailer revealed
The third expansion pack for the first- and third-person shooter video game "Star Wars: Battlefront" is almost here.
The "Death Star" DLC (downloadable content) expansion will be made available on Tuesday, Sept. 20, for season pass holders. This was recently revealed by Electronic Arts, the video game publisher behind "Star Wars: Battlefront."
The upcoming DLC pack is expected to introduce Chewbacca and Bossk into the game, along with five new maps and a fresh gameplay mode.
Chewbacca, Han Solo's trusted Wookiee companion, and Bossk, a Trandoshan bounty hunter, are introduced as new playable heroes in the latest DLC. In the expansion, Chewie's skills include Mighty Roar and Multi-Bolts while Bossk can use Predatory Instincts and Micro-Grenades. Chewie is armed with a multi-shot bowcaster while Bossk has thermal-like vision.
The new three-part gameplay mode, which is called Battle Station, features a battle that rages in and around the Death Star, the Empire's iconic weapon from the "Star Wars" films. According to IGN, players would engage in a fight within the Death Star after participating in a space battle around the moon-sized space station. In addition, the gameplay mode's third leg reportedly has the Rebels going on a mission to destroy the Death Star.
Apart from revealing the release date for the "Death Star" expansion, EA has also released a gameplay trailer for the DLC that highlights the new characters and the Battle Station mode, which has players attempting to destroy the Death Star from an X-Wing. The new trailer also features some space dogfights, as well as the Death Star's interiors.
The "Death Star" DLC will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC as a feature of pass owners' two-week early access period.
The fourth major DLC for "Star Wars: Battlefront," called "Rogue One: Scarif," is based on the upcoming film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." The movie hits theaters Friday, Dec. 16.
