Star Wars Battlefront Release Date, Trailer Video: Game Scheduled for November 17 for PS4, Xbox One, PC
The Star Wars universe came out with two huge announcements on Friday concerning the second teaser trailer for the upcoming film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and another trailer for the "Star Wars: Battlefront" game.
Both trailers were released during the special Star Wars Celebration event that took place last Thursday and Friday in Anaheim, California.
The release date of the game was leaked before it was officially announced when one person spotted the date among the source code on the website for the game. It was later announced that "Star Wars: Battlefront" would land on Nov. 17, or about a month before the film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters.
The upcoming game is a multiplayer shooter and will be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC first in the United States and in the United Kingdom on Nov. 20.
The trailer for "Star Wars: Battlefront" revealed several tantalizing bits of information about the game, including the presence of female stormtroopers, and the locations where the battles would take place.
As for the playable vehicles, they include Speeder bikes, snow speeders, the Millennium Falcon and X-Wings. Some of the locations featured in the trailer included Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and a planet called Sullust, which has never been featured so far.
Among the playable characters are Darth Vader and Boba Fett. There were hints that more would be added later.
The game will allow players to switch from first-person mode to third-person mode and will allow up to 40 players. There are also two cooperative missions included in the game which can be played either offline or via the Internet.
The game is created by Electronic Arts and DICE. For those who pre-order the game, they will get the Battle of Jakku expansion DLC a full week before others get it on Dec. 8. A Deluxe Edition of the game costs $70.
