After months of speculation, the official title for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" has finally been revealed.

"We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI," Lucasfilm announced on the official "Star Wars" website.

Well, that sounds ominous. The "Star Wars" logo was also written in a sinister red font this time, not the usual yellow. So, is the "Jedi" in the title in singular or plural form? Right now, that is unclear and it's probably intended to be that way.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press spoke with Mark Hamill, the actor playing Luke Skywalker, after the title was announced, and he said he liked the "straightforward and minimalist" title. He also revealed that he didn't want to know about the title while they were working on the movie because he didn't want to accidentally leak it.

"He (Rian Johnson) told me that when we were making the movie and I said 'Don't tell me these things!' I talk in my sleep. They have us so jacked up with paranoia over leaks, but that's the way of the world," he said (transcribed by MovieWeb).

Daisy Ridley, the actress playing Rey, also decided to have some fun by posting a meme of herself looking excited beside the logo. The meme was credited to netizen called @heroeslab.

Fans have been wondering what the official title would be for some time now, and some netizens actually guessed the title more than a year ago. DeviantArt member MrSteiners made a logo with the name "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" back in 2015, and Redditor Trumundo also came up with the name last year. Someone should give them a price for guessing the title.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is scheduled to premiere on Dec. 15.
