It's that time of the year once again when Valve's digital distribution platform will be hosting its annual Christmas Holiday Sale.

As leaked on NeoGAF, the Steam Winter Sale, also labeled as Christmas Sale or even Holiday Sale, will officially commence on Dec. 22, and it will last for two weeks until it concludes on Jan. 2. Eurogamer has also separately confirmed this information.

Incidentally, the Steam Winter Sale back in 2015 also fell on the same date. During last year's sale, video games such as the "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," and all franchise of "Witcher" were discounted. Other discounted games included "Borderlands 2," "Dishonored," "Dark Souls 2," and "Civilization V."

Last month, Steam unveiled its Annual Autumn Sale, also known as Black Friday Sale. From Nov. 23 until Nov. 29, more than 12,000 video games were put on sale. Even 2016 blockbusters and major franchises were tagged with large discounts. Among the franchise deals that were highlighted by Steam included "The Elder Scrolls" franchise, "Just Cause" franchise, "Civilization" franchise, "Far Cry" franchise, "Grand Theft Auto" franchise, and the "Batman" franchise.

The Black Friday sale also featured popular games that have been launched this year and last year. Some of these discounted games include "Civilization VI," "Fallout 4," "Doom 2016," "Hitman, The Complete First Season," "Quantum Break," "Attack on Titan," "Cities: Skylines," "Inside," "Battlerite," and "Abzu."

Despite the leaked release date, it is important to note, however, that Valve has not yet released an official statement about the start date of this year's winter sale, when it will end, and what are the game titles that will be discounted during the holiday sale.

Christmas sales are expected to happen across all shops and platforms. Hence, it is recommended to gaming fans and enthusiasts to be wise in spending their hard-earned money for discounted games this holiday season.
