Steam Winter Sale news: sale to begin today; premium titles expected to come out cheaper than before
The annual Steam sale is on and every gamer has to choose from a wide array of titles at low prices. Here are important details that every gamer should know about the Steam Winter sale.
PayPal UK has just announced a couple of hours ago that the much-awaited Steam Winter Sale will begin today, Dec. 22. They posted on Twitter, "We're delighted to announce the @steam_games #SteamWinterSale is coming on the 22nd. What do you have your eyes on?"
The previous sale of Steam was in autumn, which started almost a month ago. The event offered hit video games at huge discounts like "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," "Life is Strange, "Civilization 6" and "Dark Souls."
The event started simultaneously with the voting for the Steam Awards. Each day, visitors can vote for a new category. They can continue voting until Dec. 29, after which, the votes will be tallied and the result of the voting will be revealed on New Year's Eve.
For instance, the nominees for "The Villain Most in Need of a Hug Award" are "Dead by Daylight," "Far Cry 3," "Far Cry 4," "Borderlands 2" and "Portal 2." Polygon wrote that the titles, hopefully, may be included in the Steam Winter sale offers.
Valve has yet to reveal the titles to be offered at great discounts, but they are expected to come out in a few of hours. This means, players still have time to review some titles and see what games they would want to take advantage when the even starts.
It can be recalled that last year's Steam Winter sale kicked off from Dec. 22 until 29. Back then, players were able to get a copy of premium games such as "The Phantom Pain," "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," "The Witcher" franchise and "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" at discounted prices.
Players expect that high-profile titles will also be included in the upcoming Steam Winter Sale. For now, gamers can visit the Steam Store and see if the sale has already started.
