'Steven Universe' season 4 latest news: Future episodes will explore social issues
The fourth season of Cartoon Network's animated show "Steven Universe" stopped at episode 7 last September. In the next episodes, which will launch in a few weeks, the animated series will be exploring mature content that some deem as inappropriate for young audiences.
The eighth episode will be titled "Gem Harvest." According to reports, the show will be venturing into more mature themes starting with the upcoming episode.
GamenGuide reported that showrunner Rebecca Sugar revealed the forthcoming episode will not be suitable for kids aged 2 to 11.
Though little is known about the details of the episode, reports suggested the show will be exploring complex social issues as the titular character Steven will be struggling with puberty.
Furthermore, the show will be showing its support for the LGBT community. Sugar previously hinted that the fourth season will be revolving around the idea that "all people deserve love." It seems like viewers will finally get to witness more of that particular theme in the upcoming episodes, as Pearl and Garnet will reportedly start to explore their feelings towards each other.
According to reports, the eighth and ninth episode of "Steven Universe" season 4 will have a Thanksgiving theme. Both episodes will have 22 minutes each.
At this year's annual New York Comic Convention, which was held last Thursday Oct. 6 to Sunday Oct. 9, several fans turned up at the show's panel. They thanked the production team for addressing important issues such as gender and racial equality.
Though the show will resume in a few weeks, fans are sad because the preview for the upcoming eighth episode hinted that the show might be ending soon.Neither the network nor the production team has confirmed when the series is ending.
