Steven Universe season 4 spoilers, news: Onion to be harboring gem mutants?

The last episode of "Steven Universe" titled "The Last One Out of Beach City" could be considered as a filler episode at best. Fans, however, are more excited for next week's episode. Some fans theorize that Onion harbored the mutated gems in his home and turned them into his friends.

Reports have confirmed that the next episode will be titled titled "Onion Gang." Reddit has been rife with fan theories and discussions, and it's no far stretch that Onion may have put Steven in another pickle. If what the fans are saying is true, it won't be the first time that Onion has been messing with gems.

In the episode "Onion Trade" from season one, Onion managed to get his hands on a gem artifact that multiplied any item of his choosing. Onion then decided to flood the entire beach with an avalanche of toys and the Crystal Gems had more trouble than they could handle.

It's no secret to fans of the show that Steven feels uncomfortable hanging out with Onion, but Onion clearly has very special feelings for Steven. This is made clear in the episode "Onion Friend" in season 2, when Onion shared a lot of his secrets with Steven (much to Steven's dismay).

If it's true that Onion has been able to communicate with the gem mutants, then it could mean something big when it comes to saving the gems. As of now, Steven and Peridot managed to convince the gems in the Cluster to put themselves in a bubble. However, if they could communicate with the other mutated gems, then there could be a chance of reviving the sanity of the corrupted gems.

"Steven Universe" has gone back to the regular release of one episode per week. "Onion Gang" airs on Thursday, Sept 15., only on Cartoon Network.
