Sting, arguably the most popular wrestler in the world, may finally return to the ring and fight what could be his last match at WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Sting remains as one of the biggest talents from the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) that World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE) CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon has not been able to draw for a match.

But with Sting openly talking about joining the WWE family and seeking one last match, it is nearly certain that the much awaited match will happen.

But the event will not happen anytime soon. Sources said such a Sting match with a still undisclosed WWE superstar may happen only on March 29, 2015 during WrestleMania 31.

Sting once said that he would love to wrestle with The Undertaker, but the latter's career was placed in doubt after he lost to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX last April which ended his streak of victories.

Undertaker apparently suffered a legitimate injury, putting his future participation in upcoming wrestling events in doubt.

Previous to that fight, there had been rumors that Sting was going to face the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX, but the WWE opted to pick Lesnar, who has since won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Sting would still love to tangle with the Undertaker at WrestleMania 31, but it remains in doubt whether the injured wrestling star will be fit enough to go into the ring again next in the first quarter of next year.

With Undertaker in sick bay, Sting has mentioned Triple H as a possible opponent.

It would seem that WWE is all set to grant Sting's wish since it has been on a nostalgia kick lately. Its website recently began releasing episodes of WCW Monday Nitro, of which Sting was often the main event participant.

Sources said the two sides are expected to come to an agreement soon that will see Sting back in action.

Although he has not yet fought for WWE, Sting has become one of the most popular wrestlers in the industry right now. This is because Sting is a crowd favorite because of his engaging verbal volleys.

Another reason why Sting is expected to eventually show up in the ring is that he has been cleaning up the merchandise booth, according to Bleacher Report.

"Sting merchandise is being sold at WWE house shows. Sting has a merchandise contract with WWE, and most expect him at WrestleMania for what could be his one and only WWE in-ring appearance this coming year," the report says.

Even if Undertaker isn't available, at this point old-school fans are so desperate to see Sting end his career at WWE that they'd be happy to see him wrestle anyone -- even John Cena, according to Wrestle Zone.
