The cast of "Stranger Things" season 2 is growing.

This week, two new actors were added to the cast list of the popular Netflix show's highly anticipated sophomore season, which was described as a "sequel" to the first. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Power Rangers" actor Dacre Montgomery and "American Odyssey" actress Sadie Sink have just gotten on board the series in major roles.

Sink will play the role of the tough and confident tomboy Max, whose appearance and behavior is more typical of boys in the 1980s, in which the series is set. Max is said to have a complicated history and a tendency to be suspicious of others.

Montgomery will play the role of Billy, the hyper-confident and edgy older step-brother of Max. He is said to have a penchant for drinking games and stealing girlfriends away. Underneath his charismatic facade is a tendency for violent and unpredictable behavior.

In addition, season 1 actors Noah Schnapp, who played Will Byers, and Joe Keery, who played Steve Harrington, have been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming second season.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Stranger Things" creators the Duffer Brothers confirmed earlier this year that the new season will feature four new characters.

Meanwhile, Schnapp recently spoke up regarding the persistent rumors about Will's sexual orientation. Since "Stranger Things" became an unexpected hit this summer, some viewers have been speculating that the missing boy in the sci-fi horror/mystery is gay. Earlier this week, the young actor broke his silence and addressed the issue in a lengthy post on Instagram.

"I think everyone here is missing the point," Schnapp wrote. "An author called Gary Schmidt came to speak at our school this week and he said that good stories aren't supposed to leave you with answers because then you never question yourself and you forget about it. A good book, or a good show leaves a lot of unanswered questions but makes you think," he continued.

"I'm only 12 but I do know we all relate to being different," he said, adding "that's why I think the Duffers wrote the show the way they did."

"I hope the real answer never comes out!" the actor concluded on his post.

"Stranger Things" season 2 will debut on Netflix in 2017.
