New details have been revealed about "Stranger Things" season 2, and it involves Joyce Byers — portrayed by Winona Ryder — having a new guy in his life. Meanwhile, Millie Bobby Brown's character, Eleven, was originally more violent than what was shown in season 1.

"Stranger Things" season 2 is expected to premiere in a few months, and a set of new characters will be introduced from the small town of Hawkins. It turns out one of these newbies will play the boyfriend of Winona's Joyce Byers.

During the Fan2Sea Cruise Panel of "Stranger Things," David Harbour who plays Chief Hopper, spilled the beans on Joyce's new guy.

"We have Sean Astin... He's Winona's new boyfriend — much to the chagrin to the Chief of Police," Hollywood Life reports.

Not only is Astin's character, Bob Newby, Joyce's new romantic partner, he's also a former nerd who went to high school with her and Chief Hopper, according to Variety. He will also be the new manager of Hawkins RadioShack.

Meanwhile, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer shared at the Golden Globes red carpet that Eleven was originally a very violent protagonist, but they chose to tone it down.

"The Eleven character, the kind of powers she has and to have a young protagonist that's violent — it's not E.T. It's not a happy situation. She's killing people, and brutally murdering them," Ross explained to Vulture.

Even Joyce Byers had an offensive foul mouth in the original plot.

"The original pilot was much more violent. It was originally like an R-rated thing. Winona's character was like, 'Eff this, eff that!' It felt a little bit unnecessary. I don't feel like we sacrificed anything by toning it down a little bit," Matt added.

Harbour notes that season 2 kicks off a year later from the previous season and that the town of Hawkins will be divided into two: people who know what happened to Will (Noah Schnapp) and people who don't.

Also, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) will be pushing to have justice for her best friend Barb (Shannon Purser), who was eaten by the Demogorgon in season 1.

"Stranger Things" season 2 is expected to premiere in July on Netflix.
