'Street Fighter 5' release date news 2016: Akuma announced; season pass now available for preorder
The coming of "Street Fighter V" this holiday season is a special treat for all avid players. Arriving on Dec. 20, Capcom has already announced a couple of details about the anticipated title. This time, the company confirmed that players will be able to take control of Akuma in the game.
That is not all, Akuma is joined by five more characters in the game and a season pass will be rolled out for preorder. Akuma's appearance in "Street Fighter V" came as a surprise and a delight for many players. The character has undergone visual revamps and now has a longer hairstyle.
However, he still sports the same blue G.I. and his moves are stronger than ever. According to GameSpot, Akuma can now dive-kick with greater damage as he comes with an EX version. This means he will start doing a somersault, followed by a strong kick that would bring further wrath to his enemy. His fireball return, meanwhile, is still the same.
"Akuma returns to Street Fighter 5, displaying his mastery of Ansatsuken and while he has become burlier than previous games, he possesses quick footwork and devastating combos," wrote Capcom on its official website.
"He has a wide array of destructive tools and is able to completely out-class opponents with his oppressive pressure. His moves and stances often strike poses reminiscent of Buddhist statues and Ukiyo-e paintings," they added.
Capcom has also revealed several Akuma techniques that will be seen in "Street Fighter V." These include the V-Skill Rakan, a defensive move that can be comparable to Ryu's Mind's Eye. The V-Trigger: Dohatsu Shoten will keep his Gohadokens more powerful than before.
Akuma also has Critical Art: Sekia Koretsuha so he can channel a robust ki to strike his opponent down, as well as Criticak Art: Shun Goku Satsu, which is one of his most fatal attack returns.
The "Street Fighter V" Season Pass is available for $29.99.
