'Suits' season 7 premiere, cast news, plot updates: New characters coming to the firm
Pearson Specter Litt is off to a fresh start in season 7, which will see new characters coming into the series. Meanwhile, a spin-off, featuring Gina Torres' Jessica as the lead, might have a crossover episode with "Suits."
When "Suits" returns with its 7th season, Pearson Specter Litt will finally start fresh now that Mike (Patrick J. Adams) has turned into a full-fledged lawyer. However, Jessica will no longer be around to be the middle man when Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Louis (Rick Hoffman) get into big fights.
In an interview with Deadline, series creator Aaron Korsh revealed that they initially considered having someone replace Jessica as middle-man in the firm, but they scrapped the idea.
"We talked about bringing someone in — Harvey and Louis deciding to bring in someone above both of them. But I had a hard time wrapping my mind around Harvey bringing in someone to oversee him, so there won't be that," Korsh revealed.
However, because the firm decided to bring in new associates in season 6, Korsh said that there will be new recurring characters who will be introduced in "Suits" season 7.
"They hired these new associates and there's room for them to grow a little bit and bring in a new partner or two, and certainly a new character or two," Korsh confirmed.
Meanwhile, Gina Torres will be having her own spin-off as Jessica, which might bring it to have a crossover episode with "Suits."
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Korsh was asked if "Suits" will be featured in the Jessica-centered spin-off in Chicago where she starts fresh on her own.
"First of all, yes. There's always a potential for anything. ... There's no guarantee that it will be Chicago or anything like that, but absolutely that's a possibility," Korsh explained.
"Suits" season 7 is expected to premiere this 2017.
