'Super Mario Run' for Android news: pre-registration now available; 9,000 false apps seen
Android users were disappointed when "Super Mario Run" was released solely for iOS. Now, Android devices can be installed with the hit mobile title soon, especially since pre-registration is already available.
"Super Mario Run" was one of the most anticipated titles to ever hit the mobile market. As expected, millions of iOS users immediately downloaded the game, but it eventually lost a number of players due to its $9.99 price tag.
The game can be downloaded and played for free, but with certain limitations attached. Players who opt not to purchase the full game can only unlock certain levels. This is said to be one of the reasons why "Super Mario Run" failed to be one of the most profitable games in the iOS market, and has not enticed the players to invest $9.99 for it.
Game reviewers were not impressed by the game as well, as reflected by the 2.5 out of 5 stars on the Apps Store.
Nintendo is now taking a chance with the Android users as the developer launched pre-registration websites on Google Play Store on Dec. 29, 2016. It should be noted, however, that "Super Mario Run" is still not officially released and so enthusiasts need to wait a little longer before they can download the official game, or suffer the consequences.
Recent news has it that "Super Mario Run" for Android should not be downloaded immediately as cybercriminals are lurking to get a chance of getting into the gamers' devices. Security experts remind the Android users to be vigilant about the apps that claims they have the "Super Mario Run" version ready to be downloaded.
Trend Micro security firm reportedly discovered several malevolent Android apps that pose as "Super Mario Run" or other content related to the game. More than 9,000 false apps are seen in 2016 alone. Android users who download one of the false apps may suffer from excessive advertising, malware issues and others.
