Unfortunately for Nintendo, the recent release of "Super Mario Run" was not enough to boost the sales of the company as it continues to suffer from stock price drop. Because of this, the Japanese group has decided not to release any additional content for the side-scrolling, auto-running video game, be it paid or free.

A spokesperson from Nintendo has recently talked to the Wall Street Journal in which the news has been confirmed. This makes it a bummer of a news given that the core gameplay of "Super Mario Run" is relatively short not to mention a bit repetitive. For example, gamers are relegated a replay time that comes from collecting those stubborn, hard-to-reach coins as well as revisiting particular levels that are deemed more enjoyable than others. The game is composed of six worlds each with three modes each as well as a special castle stage that is summed up to only 24 stages in all.

Stocks for Nintendo have been declining even before the aforementioned title was rolled out for iOS just last week. And it has been making such a buzz especially when it experienced a significant increase just the month prior. Part of the expectations from the game was that it posed soaring stocks just after it was announced, which is why the company was presumably heavily relying on its sales upon release.

However, while "Super Mario Run" has reached the number one spot on the iOS App Store charts in many places around the world including the United States, it failed to do so in its local Japanese market. What is interesting about "Super Mario Run" is that it is a critically acclaimed title citing its simple yet fulfilling gameplay as one of its strongest points.

In hindsight, "Super Mario Run" may actually not be geared to be a fully fleshed-out game but instead a push from Nintendo toward its hardware especially with the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch making its debut March of next year. The mobile game is currently available only on Apple devices with a tipped Android rollout sometime next year.
