Nintendo's upcoming side-scrolling platformer game "Super Mario Run" is about to debut on iPhones and iPads next week. But the excitement about the game further intensifies after the release of a new live-action teaser to promote the game.

Polygon posted the 2:05-minute ad that features multiple people of all nationalities and ages. The people were seen running across some of the most picturesque locations all over the world, with touches of the iconic Super Mario Bros. sound and visual effects.

Then the legendary video game hero Mario appeared toward the end of the video, as he reaches his final goal surrounded by a huge crowd in front of Times Square.

"Super Mario" game creator and lead designer Shigeru Miyamoto talked to The Verge to discuss how they decided to bring the game to the smartphone platform. According to Miyamoto, they were already considering to come out with a one-button "Super Mario" game since Nintendo came out with Wii, but they realized that their planned game would work best when released on the iPhone.

The game creator also mentioned that their main goal is to bring the popular characteristics of a "Super Mario" game to a larger number of people, no matter what platform they use. "Nintendo has been making Mario games for a long time, and the longer you continue to make a series, the more complex the gameplay becomes, and the harder it becomes for new players to be able to get into the series," Miyamoto stated in the interview. "We felt that by having this simple tap interaction to make Mario jump, we'd be able to make a game that the broadest audience of people could play."

"Super Mario Run" is slated for release for the iOS devices through the Apple App Store on Thursday, Dec. 15. Players need to pay $9.99 after the free demo to continue playing the game. Android device owners, on the other hand, must wait until 2017 to get hold of the new game.
