There will be some colorful new characters that fans will get to see in action when "Supergirl" season 2 returns to the small screen later this month.

It has been confirmed that for Supergirl's (Melissa Benoist) musical team-up with The Flash (Grant Gustin) later in the season, they will take on The Music Meister, who has the ability to control people through song.

Executive producer Greg Berlanti revealed the information at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, but warned that there is not much to say about it yet.

The Music Meister was played by "How I Met Your Mother" alum Neil Patrick Harris in the animated series, "Batman: The Brave and the Bold."

Some fans hope the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" actor will also play the role in "Supergirl" season 2. "We're certainly huge fans of [Harris], and as the casting process proceeds, we'll see what happens," showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said.

The musical crossover will be in two parts. "Supergirl" season 2 will dedicate an episode while "The Flash" season 3 will set aside one for it.

Both Gustin and Benoist starred in the musical television series "Glee," but they are not the only ones who will belt some tunes in the crossover.

Aside from The Music Meister, "Supergirl" season 2 will also bring another wacky villain in the form of Mr. Mxyzptlk, who has the ability to bend reality among other things.

The only way to get rid of the impish trickster is to get him to say his name backward, which will be exciting to see how Supergirl and friends can pull that off.

"Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" alum Peter Gadiot was cast to play the role of Mr. Mxyzptlk. He will breathe life into the character in episode 13.

In other news, "Supergirl" was renewed for a third season by The CW Television Network along with "The Flash," "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow," "Supernatural," "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Jane the Virgin."

"Supergirl" season 2 returns Monday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
