'Supernatural' season 12 air date, spoilers: Crowley and Castiel take on Lucifer in unlikely collaboration
"Supernatural" season 12 promises another exciting year as former enemies team up to go against a common foe.
Lucifer has a new vessel, a rockstar named Vince Vincente, who will appropriately be portrayed by Rick Springfield. It seems that he would keep up with his old ways as Entertainment Weekly recently revealed that Kadeem Hardison has just been tapped to play a character named Russell Lemmons, a "music bigwig" with great plans for Vince, aka Lucifer's singing career.
Executive producer Robert Singer said during the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con International that Vince is the first vessel that Lucifer connects with in the most comfortable way: a down-on-his-luck rockstar who's trying to get back up on his feet again.
While this seems to bode well for both Lucifer and his vessel, the demon Crowley (Mark Sheppard) and the angel Castiel (Misha Collins) still have bones to pick with him when the 12th season of "Supernatural" rolls around.
The previous season saw Lucifer taking over Hell and humiliating its former king, Crowley, in front of his constituents. Castiel, on the other hand, allowed Lucifer into his own body in hopes of defeating Amara. Thus, he was taken advantage of.
The two are reportedly teaming up to bring their tormentor down.
According to Collins, the collaboration will be a sort of throwback to the sitcoms and buddy cop comedies of the '70s and the '80s. An appropriate description, indeed, since Crowley and Castiel are no more similar than night and day.
The combination promises hours of hilarious bickering between the two, and also poses the question of how they will ever manage to get past their differences to come up with the most sensible way to defeat a wily creature like Lucifer.
"Supernatural" season 12 kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
