'Survivor' Season 29 News: Ex-MLB Pitcher Castaway Exits

His past may have earned "Survivor" castaway John Rocker his ticket off the island. The former MLB pitcher was voted off the island in the third episode of "Survivor: San Juan Del Sur – Blood vs. Water."

Early in the show, one of the other castaways, Josh, engineered a plan to have John out of the island, but it was the ex-ballplayer's controversial past that may have helped in his exit.

Early on, John had already failed in his promise to Jeremy on Exile Island that he will keep Val in the game. Facing some heat because of Val's exit, John apologized to Jeremy in front of both tribes during the reward challenge, but Jeremy felt the sportsman didn't do everything he could to save Val from elimination. John's apology also frustrated Josh, who didn't know that the athlete had conspired to save Jeremy's wife behind his back.

Meanwhile, Baylor, hoping to save herself from elimination, is testing the waters back at camp to have John voted off. A still angry Jeremy, on the other hand, made a hint on John's controversial past, including some racist comments he made during an interview, to the members of the Hunahpu tribe.

At the immunity challenge, Natalie, who believed John got her sister voted out, went off at John, calling her fellow castaway a racist and even bringing up his past in front of both tribes, prompting host Jeff Probst to address the issue.

The Coyopa tribe went to tribal council that night, and John became the third person voted out of "Survivor" Season 29. John may have started the ball rolling on John's exit, but it was the blowup at the immunity challenge and the surfacing of John's past that ultimately convinced the rest of the tribe to eliminate the former professional baseball star.
