Survivors of Texas Floods Say Experience 'Strengthened Faith in God'
Residents of Central Texas and Oklahoma who recently survived massive flooding that destroyed several homes have said that the harrowing experience has strengthened their faith in God.
Kelley Burke, the family friend of one group of people who lost several in the recent floods while staying at a vacation home in Hays County, recently said at a press conference that the natural disaster has brought family and friends closer to God.
"It's impossible to express in words the tremendous loss, pain and fear we are feeling," Burke said at a press conference regarding the missing, as reported by The New York Times.
"Over the past few days, we've been absolutely amazed and overwhelmed at the generosity of others, even complete strangers,". Burke said. "This experience has strengthened our faith in God and in humanity."
Burke is a family friend of one of the families staying in a vacation home in Hays County when rising waters from the Blanco River ripped the home away from the bank and carried it downstream.
Seven members of the three families sharing the vacation house remain missing, the New York Times reports.
As CNN reports, another vacation home in Wimberley, Texas was recently flooded with water as the frantic Perez family waited inside for help. The family was eventually able to call for help from a nearby fire truck.
"It turned the living room into a gigantic washing machine," Ernie Perez, who was staying at the vacation rental at the time of the flooding, told CNN.
