Authorities announced this week that the suspect believed to have set a pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland on fire earlier this year during the Freddie Gray protests has been arrested.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced Wednesday that 24-year-old Raymon Carter has been arrested on suspicion of setting a CVS Pharmacy in Baltimore on fire. The fire was seen by many as the beginning to days of riots protesting the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who died of a spinal injury while in police custody.

According to the Associated Press, Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts has reported that the suspect is responsible for $1 million in damages for torching the well-known pharmacy.

"Raymon Carter burned a CVS — our CVS — to the ground. The very same CVS that people who live in that neighborhood relied on for their medication, for their food, for toiletries in that community," Batts said, as reported by The Baltimore Sun. "He is a criminal that took advantage of our city when we were most vulnerable."

William McMullan, one of the investigators researching the fire told CBS Baltimore that it is believed Carter acted alone in setting fire to the pharmacy.

The death of Freddie Gray earlier this year resulted in the arrest and charge of six Baltimore police officers after the 25-year-old's death was ruled a homicide.

"These charges are an important step in getting justice for Freddie," Richard Shipley, Gray's stepfather, said following the announcement of the police charges.

"Without justice, there is no peace," Shipley continued. "But let us have peace in the pursuit of justice."
