'Switched at Birth' season 5 premiere date, cast news, plot updates: New season premieres this month; showrunner reveals snippets from season finale episodes

The fifth and final season of "Switched at Birth" will finally premiere this January. Series creator Lizzy Weiss shares sneak peeks of the script and title of the show's final season.

The show, featuring two girls, Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne Vasquez (Katie Leclerc), who were switched at birth, will air its fifth and final season on Jan. 31, according to TV Line.

"Switched at Birth" will have its 100th episode in season 5's seventh episode titled "Memory (The Heart)," and it will end with a 90-minute finale titled "Long Live Love."

Weiss has been sharing a lot of reveals for "Switched at Birth" season 5 on her official Twitter account.

She has already revealed all the episode titles for season 5, including a few script lines, revealing what the final season of "Switched at Birth" will have in store.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 begins with the episode titled "The Call," and based on Weiss' post, Bay will be receiving bad news on the phone will completing a customer's tattoo.

Previously in season 4, Bay and Daphne went to China together to be on their own. But after Bay receives the bad news, it seems that the two will make an unexpected trip back home 10 months after they left.

The series has been known to tackle social issues such as racism and classism, and at the same time, it also represents other sides of society such as deaf culture. For season 5, Weiss has announced that Black Lives Matter will be one of the issues that the show will touch on, aside from political correctness and safe spaces.

Weiss even shared script lines of Iris (Sharon Pierre-Louis) and Daphne debating whether Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) crossed the line with his Lil Wayne costume.

"Switched at Birth" premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 9 p.m. EST on Freeform.
