Taylor Swift new album 2016 rumors: Swift reportedly exploring the hip-hop genre
Since 2006, pop-country artist Taylor Swift always followed a two-year gap release in between albums, usually expected around October or November. However, it seems the singer is missing out on this year's expected release since her last album, "1989," was released in 2014.
After a rather controversial relationship and break-up with "Thor" star, Tom Hiddleston, Swift is reportedly working on her new album as attested by her model friend, Gigi Hadid.
"She's [Swift] obviously such a great friend, and you know she is starting to go back to work in the studio again, and really made time to be here for me, and I am so grateful for that," Hadid shared in a previous interview.
Because of this, many fans already expect that most of her songs on the upcoming album might be about her whirlwind romance with Hiddleston. However, new reports also indicate that Swift might be delving into a new genre this time.
It is reported that the country singer is experimenting with the hip-hop genre for her upcoming album, or as a source said, she is "exploring the new urban sound."
"Taylor is always looking at ways to grow as an artist and really wants to try something different and unexpected for the next album," a source reports. "The remix of her song 'Bad Blood' had a less pop vibe — especially once Kendrick Lamar featured on it — and was a big hit, so she thinks her fans will like her going in this direction."
Swift's recent albums were already veering to the Pop and RnB influence, so many fans are confident that she can definitely pull off the hip-hop genre.
The singer was also previously embroiled in a heated fight with Kim Kardashian-West when Kim released a SnapChat clip featuring a recorded phone call of her husband, Kanye West and Swift, discussing the permission of Kanye in using her in a song lyric.
