'Teen Wolf' season 6 news, spoilers: EP on Stiles' and Lydia's big moment
Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) finally told Lydia (Holland Roden) he loves her in the "Teen Wolf" season 6 premiere.
Unfortunately, he was erased from existence — and from everyone's minds — just seconds later.
"Teen Wolf" executive producer Jeff Davis spoke to TV Line about the season 6 premiere and explained why it was finally time for Stiles to reveal his true feelings for Lydia. According to Davis, the question of whether to keep Stiles and Lydia no more than for friends or finally let their relationship evolve was a topic of much debate in the "Teen Wolf" writers' room.
But as this is the final season for the MTV supernatural drama, there is no better time to give Stydia fans the thrill of their lives. "Finding out that this is the last season makes you want to go for things that you've been holding off on," Davis said. "We've seen them as great friends, as antagonists and even as Lydia not knowing who the hell Stiles is. It's a progression of their relationship that, to us, felt pretty natural," he added.
In the season 6 premiere, "Teen Wolf" fans saw the arrival of the Riders, a group of evil horse-mounted villains with a penchant for erasing people from existence. The group began their rampage by preying on a boy named Alex and his parents before they turned their attention on Stiles, Tyler's (Scott McCall) best human buddy.
One by one, Stiles' friends and family started to forget him. But before the Riders could completely erase all memory of him, he left Lydia with a heartbreaking "Remember I love you."
Amazingly, while everyone else seems to have completely forgotten Stiles, Lydia somehow senses Stiles' absence, though of course she couldn't quite figure out what she was feeling.
Davis explained why Lydia was able to have a spark of a memory of Stiles while everyone else did not, saying, "They have a very special relationship. They've saved each other's lives several times."
Meanwhile, "Teen Wolf" is marking its sixth and final season with a new title sequence featuring all of the evil creatures that Scott and his pack have faced over the years.
"Teen Wolf" season 6 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
