'Tekken 7' release date, news and updates: new preview shows off game cinematics
Although "Tekken 7" is already released in Japan last March 2015, it is still up for Western release by early next year for PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and PCs. As its release gets nearer, Bandai Namco issues another trailer to hype up the game.
The new trailer shows more of the game's cinematics, not the gameplay itself, but players can now get a glimpse as to how "Tekken 7" would look like.
A previous trailer for "Tekken 7" unveiled the character named Miguel, a new playable character in the game franchise. Miguel suffered a tragic past, her sister was killed during an airstrike ordered by Mishima Zaibatsu. Now driven by vengeance, his mission is to kill the Mishima clan.
Meanwhile, in a GameSpot interview, game producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed that Akuma, from the "Street Fighter" series, will be added to the new "Tekken 7" as a unique cross-over character as he is also getting his own story and gameplay.
"It's not like other games where we take the character and put him in the character lineup and that's it. He's actually part of the story and the game — not just the backstory but actually in the story mode itself," Harada explained.
When Harada was asked as to how they come up with such a diverse lineup of characters, he explained that many of their animators and designers come up with new ideas. "Some of the ideas might come from the animators because there are certain animations, fighting styles, martial arts, or something that they focus on first and flesh out the character from there," he said. "It could also be that the planner comes up with a certain look for a character they want to show off, or a game designer wants a character from a particular region."
In addition, the producer did not confirm nor deny if there are any other plans of merging "Tekken" and "Street Fighter" sometime in the near future. He just told fans to "stay tuned."
