'Tekken 7' release date news 2016: Bandai Namco teases new characters, story mode
Those who attended this year's Gamescom event were in for a huge "Tekken" surprise as Bandai Namco revealed the newest characters in the upcoming installment of the hit fighting game franchise, "Tekken 7." A new batch of fighters are included in the sequel's roster, most of them related to the "Tekken" series' central character, Heihachi Mishima. Additionally, the Japanese game studio also teased a new exciting story game that the players would not want to miss.
According to a report from International Business Times, Bandai Namco unveiled its latest trailer for "Tekken 7" during Gamescom 2016, which revealed the fresh characters and storylines. One of the new additions in the huge "Tekken" plot is Claudio Serafino, the leader of one of the world's most ancient organization called the Archers of Sirius. Serafino's group is known to be experts in dealing with the evil supernatural beings that lurk among the mortal beings. Their specialized set of skills and power caught the attention of Heihachi's Mishima Zaibatsu organization. The Zaibatsu wants the Archers of Sirius to join them in their cause, although Serafino suspects that something sinister is going on within the group.
Perhaps one of the most well-received new characters during the Gamescom 2016 is Lee Chaolan. Lee was revealed as Heihachi MIshima's adoptive son, although the character was never mentioned in the previous "Tekken" installments in spite of him being a part of the Mishima family. He has an alter-ego character named Violet, which will also be a separate playable character in the game. Lee's character is described as a vengeful son, believing that Heihachi and his adoptive brother, Kazuya, ruined everything in his life. In "Tekken 7," Lee Chaolan will challenge both of Heihachi and Kazuya's corporations.
Meanwhile, iDigital Times reported that the new story mode in "Tekken 7" will be centered primarily on the MIshimas. Specifically, the story mode will tell the untold narrative of Kazuya MIshima's childhood years when his father Heihachi was still training him to become the world's strongest fighter. The story mode's gameplay will be quite long, taking several hours before being completed.
