The CW recently released the official trailer for the fourth season of their post-apocalyptic TV series "The 100."

"The nuclear power plants that were destroyed by the bombs have begun to melt down. 96% of the earth's surface will be uninhabitable. Black rain will come first, there will be no drinkable water. Precancerous lesions will form. Death is inevitable," the A.I. A.L.I.E. (Erica Cerra) was heard speaking in the trailer. "Let me ease their pain, Clarke. We can save the human race together."

"You don't ease pain — you overcome it," Clarke replied.

In season 4, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) will have to deal with the consequences of her actions in the finale of season 3. Having pulled the lever to shut down A.L.I.E and allowing nuclear reactors on the planet to melt, the Earth only has six months before all remaining human life gets completely annihilated. Now, Clark, Bellamy (Bob Morley), and the others must do everything it takes to ensure humanity's survival.

"If we stick together, we won't just survive, we'll thrive," Clarke is seen saying in the season 4 trailer.

According to Variety, the group will be facing many struggles in balancing between the necessity to survive and the aspiration to thrive. Life on Earth has become even more difficult, and thus, as they try to ensure their survival, the people have had to shed some of their humanity in the process.

"First we survive, then we find our humanity again," Abby (Paige Turco), Clarke's mother, said.

In their fight for survival, Clarke and her people will have to resort to violence to defeat their enemies while also desperately searching for shelter to ride out the radiation that will soon plague their community. Like its previous seasons, the characters will be faced with difficult decisions such as killing to save people, defining the difference between justice and vengeance, as well as restoring their lost humanity.

The season 4 premiere of "The 100" is scheduled to air on Wednesday, Feb. 1 on The CW.
