'The 100' season 4 spoilers, updates: New Grounder clan introduced in 2nd season? Series goes musical?
Will there be a new Grounder clan when "The 100" season 4 returns to the small screens early next year? That's what recent spoilers for the series seem to hint, and it looks like Octavia Blake will be part of that clan.
There were earlier reports that Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) will take a dark turn when "The 100" returns for its fourth season. Her lover Lincoln's (Ricky Whittle) death was too much for her to handle, so she resorted to killing Pike (Michael Beach) in an effort to feel better, but the anger she feels due to her loss is eating her up.
In a roundtable interview with the cast and showrunner of "The 100" during the recent San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Octavia will be part of a new group and will be doing a lot of killing. Christian Daily has said a new Grounder clan will be introduced in the fourth season, so now fans are wondering if this is the new "killer" group Octavia will join.
Currently, showrunner Jason Rothenberg is not giving away any spoilers with regards this new clan. However, the same report from CD explained that the new clan will be called Trishana, the Growing Forest Clan. Fans who have tuned in to the series since the first episode will remember an episode featuring a fluorescent forest where Octavia and Clarke (Eliza Taylor) were. That was Trishana territory.
Nevertheless, Avgeropoulos told Showbiz Junkies in an interview that season 2's Octavia will be doing what she does best, which is killing people not because she takes pleasure from it but because she "knows that's her skill set."
"Her peers are doctors, mechanics, computer programmers. It took Octavia a while to figure out what she does best," the actress said, adding, "Now she knows what that is and she's going to use that as an outlet to really excel at being the best assassin that she can with a certain group that you're all aware of—I can't tell you who. She's going to have a really dark season. I don't know yet what I'm in for. Probably some fun."
Meanwhile, Rothenberg revealed to Zap2It that, with the impending global nuclear threat, some of the characters of "The 100" will realize that they should start making the most of what they have left. Thus, they will break into musical numbers in season 4.
"Once this thing lands in their lives as a reality—that they're all going to die in six months – we will see some people say, 'You know what, enough fighting, I just want to live life to its fullest,' and those people will sing," he said.
That certainly sets the tone for an interesting season. "The 100" season 4 will premiere early next year on The CW.
