'The Big Bang Theory' season 10 spoilers: Katey Sagal and Jack McBrayer to appear as Penny's family
"The Big Bang Theory" will finally introduce Penny's (Kaley Cuoco) family after a total of nine seasons. Penny's mother and brother will debut in season 10 and the actors that will play the part have already been revealed.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steve Molaro revealed during the show's Comic-Con panel that the actress that has been tapped to play as Penny's mother, Susan, is "Married with Children" star Katey Sagal.
"We are finally going to meet more of Penny's family," Molaro said. "We're going to be meeting Penny's mom and her brother in the first episode back. We're super excited that Katey Sagal will be playing Penny's mom," he added.
A veteran of American TV, Sagal voiced the character Leela in "Futurama." She also appeared in the award-winning biker crime drama "Sons of Anarchy." But even though Sagal is a newbie to Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady's sitcom, she is not new to playing as a mother to Cuoco.
Sagal once played the character Cate Hennessy in 2002's "8 Simple Rules." Cate is the mother of Bridget Hennessy played by Cuoco. Hence, the tenth season of "The Big Bang Theory" is a reunion of sort between the two actresses.
Meanwhile, the other new face that will be joining in the upcoming season is Penny's brother, Randall. The star who will play the part is "30 Rock" alum Jack McBrayer. Randall is described as a "cheerful former drug dealer and ex-con," which means Penny's family is going to bring some lots of fun in the mix.
Spoilers suggest that both Sagal and McBrayer will both appear at the start of the show. Season 10 is expected to pick up during Penny and Leonard's wedding so Randall and Susan will most likely be attending. Penny's father Wyatt, played by Keith Carradine, has already been introduced in the previous season.
"The Big Bang Theory" season 10 is speculated to be the last run of the series. Nothing is confirmed yet but fans are hoping that the show will expand more. The show will return on Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
