'The Blacklist' Spoilers, Recap News: Explosions, Intrigue And Secrets
"The Blacklist" was back at NBC recently after its midseason hiatus with a heart-pounding episode filled with explosions and intrigue.
Airing right after last Sunday's Super Bowl, part 1 of season 2's two-part episode 9 saw Elizabeth (Megan Boone) learning an important bit of information about Red (James Spader).
Red was again the main mover in the episode as it was discovered that he had been apprehended in Hong Kong and was being shifted to a prison known as "The Factory." Elizabeth soon learned of Red's status and she quickly assembled an F.B.I. team to retrieve him.
Meanwhile at the prison, Red informed the warden that a fellow inmate Luther Braxton (Ron Perlman) was about to escape along with others and stage a prison break. The warden did not listen to his advice, enabling Braxton to escape by electrocuting the prison guard and freeing other prisoners who overpowered the guards.
As the prison breakout was going on, Elizabeth arrived at the prison via helicopter with Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and Samar (han Marnò) in tow. They were rushed by the prisoners, but she managed to escape. This led to her meeting with Red, who then revealed that Braxton was after the "Fulcrum" information hidden on the prison mainframe. Red and Elizabeth thus conceived a plan to blow up the boiler room which was next to the server room.
After learning that Braxton was now in control of the prison, the agents at the Post Office decided to blow it up with everyone inside. However, before they could execute their plans they were forced to give Braxton the code to access the "Fulcrum" when he threatened to kill Samar.
As Elizabeth and Red rigged the boiler room to explode, Red revealed to her that Braxton wouldn't be able to get the "Fulcrum" without her, which surprised her. As the boiler room exploded, Braxton's men attacked and took Elizabeth captive, but Red rescued her after wounding Braxton.
Braxton looked at Elizabeth – and then told Red: "No wonder you came for her. She was there that night, she is the one."
As Red yelled at Elizabeth to shoot Braxton, the C.I.A.'s air strike arrived firing missiles at the prison.
