'The Defenders' spoilers: Charlie Cox reveals where fans would find Matt when the Marvel TV ensemble spectacle picks up

Marvel TV's collaboration with Netflix is gearing up for their own version of cinematic counterpart's "Avengers" as they try to assemble their own dream team dubbed as "The Defenders."

The TV spectacle, which bears the same title as the band of superheroes, may still be a few months away from debuting, but an early treat — courtesy of an exclusive feature from Entertainment Weekly — gets everyone pumped up for the ensemble that will bring four of New York's grounded heroes against a brand-new threat. Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and the yet-to-be-introduced in his very own standalone, Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will all be coming together for a good cause. And they need to work together if they want to have any chance in bringing down Sigourney Weaver's mysterious Alexandra. Other than the name and a special first look, nothing else has been announced which makes one wonder whether her character is a more familiar comic book player masked with a new identity.

As for the devil from Hell's Kitchen presumably taking more of a leader role given that he is the pioneering character of the Marvel TV universe, it appears that he would need to get his own self together first. The events of "The Defenders" starts just mere months after fans left him in the season 2 finale of "Daredevil."

"I think it's been quite a challenging few months for him. He took the death of Elektra very badly — I think he feels responsible for that," Cox revealed referring to where fans would find his character prior to him joining the other superheroes.

"He's perhaps a little bit lost, and the best he can do for now is to not engage in his vigilante activities. When we meet him at the beginning of The Defenders, I'm not sure he's completely found peace with that idea. I think he's doing the best with what he can at the time. He finds himself between a rock and a hard place, which is the crux of his issue really from the beginning of season 1. 'Should I or shouldn't I? What is more beneficial to society?'" the actor continued.

It will be interesting to see how Matt's indecisiveness will play out in the overall dynamics of the group. Given that they all come from very different backgrounds, they also similarly suffered pretty significant losses throughout their lives, so the other three's reaction to Matt's outlook may pose some conflict moving forward.

"Marvel's The Defenders" will start streaming sometime this summer although no specific release date has been announced. "Iron Fist," however, which is Danny Rand's origin narrative will drop on March 17.
