'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date, news & update: New leveling system to be introduced?
There's still frustratingly little known about the upcoming "The Elder Scrolls 6."
In fact, the unannounced title still doesn't officially exist and all anyone knows about it is cobbled together from various internet rumors and fan theories. Nonetheless, every now and then someone comes up with a plausible suggestion that gets fans even more excited to get their hands on the highly anticipated game.
Gaming Bolt suggests that Bethesda could look into rebooting the leveling system in the upcoming "The Elder Scrolls" installment to make it more "organic and invisible."
The games blog notes that a skill-based and usage-based leveling system could replace the current perks-based system, allowing players to level up based on the frequency of a specific skill. This new leveling system could supposedly enable players to forego perusing front-facing numbers and hard stats while still being assured that the skills they employ the most are the ones that they are best at in the game.
Such a leveling system would be a first in the popular "The Elder Scrolls" franchise.
As for the release date for the long-awaited title, GameNGuide suggests that the game could drop sometime in 2019. However, in a tweet back in August, Bethesda Vice President of PR and Marketing Pete Hines said: "FYI, 'The Elder Scrolls VI' isn't in development. We simply said we would make it eventually. Don't want people to be misled."
If the game isn't even in the works yet, then it's really anyone's guess as to when "The Elder Scrolls" could be released.
At the "Elder Scrolls Online" launch earlier this year, Hines offered an explanation for the delay in the "Elder Scrolls 6" release, saying that Bethesda makes sure that all of its titles are "noteworthy." He compared the studio's approach to those of other video game publishers, saying: "They'd be spitting out a 'Skyrim 2' the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it."
"[We] make sure everything we do is noteworthy. Our approach to that hasn't differed," he added.
Bethesda has not officially announced "The Elder Scrolls 6."
