'The Flash' movie cast news 2016: Rita Ora as Iris West?
Actress-singer Rita Ora is reportedly one of those considered to take on the role of Iris West in the upcoming "The Flash" movie. The competition, though tough it may seem, is said to see her as having the greatest chance of being chosen as Ezra Miller's leading lady.
According to Variety, "The Flash" director Rick Famuyiwa's top pick for the female lead role opposite Miller is Kiersey Clemons, with whom he has worked in critically-acclaimed film "Dope."
However, Mirror quoted a source as saying that Ora has a "very good chance" because "she's a good actress" and one who has "impressed the movie's producers." The other star being considered for the role is Brtish starlet Lucy Boynton, the outlet added.
Ora already has some well-received performances to her credit in the films "Fast and Furious 6," "Fifty Shades of Grey," as well as "Southpaw." This makes the British singer no stranger to the big screen.
Nothing is final yet regarding the role, but a decision is expected to come out soon with the production said to commence this year. The movie will be shot once Miller is done filming for "Justice League Part 1."
Other roles which are also being cast are those of Len Snart, Eobard Thawne, Fred Chyre, and Jay Garrick. There is no word, however, on whether these roles have already been filled up or who are being considered.
So far, Miller is the only cast member confirmed to star in the upcoming film, playing the lead role of Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash.
Meanwhile, rumors have it that Cyborg will be partnering with The Flash in this stand-alone movie, so the showrunners may be casting this role as well.
The much awaited film may also feature Matthew McConaughey as the Reverse-Flash a.k.a Thawne, the villain in the story and The Flash's fiercest adversary.
In related news, Seth Grahame-Smith, who was initially taken on to direct "The Flash" movie, will instead be penning it.
"The Flash" has been given a release date of March 16, 2018.
