'The Incredibles 2' release date, spoilers news: New villain is someone from the family?

While there's still three years to go before the release of "The Incredibles 2," the long-awaited sequel to the Academy Award-winning 2004 box office hit, various fan theories about the film's plot are already popping up all over the internet.

One new theory, which tackles the identity of the main villain in "The Incredibles 2," is particularly unsettling.

According to a post by Reddit user Professor_Wonder, who came to the conclusion after rewatching "The Incredibles," the main villain won't be a newbie to the animated franchise. Rather, it will be someone from the first film. More specifically, it will be someone from the Parr family.

According to the Redditor, the villain in "The Incredibles 2" will be Dashiell "Dash" Parr, Bob/Mr. Incredible and Helen/Elastigirl's middle child who possesses super-speed.

Explaining his claim, he pointed out that Dash was always told to rein in his superpower, even during a sports competition in school.

The Reddit user notes that while Dash was repeatedly reminded to control himself in "The Incredibles," an older Dash may have an even more difficult time complying with that order.

"Teenagers are not well known for that," the Redditor wrote. "In fact, teenage boys are well know[n] to act way out when forced to control themselves that way. Lets look at that side of the puzzle."

Professor_Wonder also points out that Dash gets conflicting notions of how to use his superpower from his parents. When he placed a tack on a teacher's seat, his mother scolded him but his father responded with excitement over the fact that his son didn't get caught.

"In a family that seems to be falling into a deep depression, Dash is able to garner some positive attention by doing something negative, the final piece of my theory," the Reddit user added.

According to Professor_Wonder, in "The Incredibles 2," Dash goes down a dark road at the coaxing of a mentor, who is identified as the maker of the caped suits that got so many Supers killed. This suit maker creates a suit that empowers Dash with his father's strength, his mother's elasticity, and his sister's ability to create force shields and become invisible. The Redditor also suggests that Jack Jack, who will be a teenager in "The Incredibles 2," will be the one to stop Dash.

Meanwhile, "Finding Dory" director Andrew Stanton spoke to io9 earlier this year about "The Incredibles 2." When asked about what fans can expect from the sequel, Stanton said, "Well, look, it was in the movie from the first one."

"There was a big promise at the back end of the movie. 'Here we go. They're now a family of superheroes,'" he added.

"The Incredibles 2" is scheduled to open June 21, 2019.
