'The Legend of Korra' Season 4 Episode 5 Recap, Update: 'Enemy at the Gates'
In the "Legend of Korra," titular heroine Korra faces her demons and finally returns to herself as she tries to stop the war between Kuvira and the city of Zaofu.
Nickelodeon's animated series is now on its fourth season, "Book 4: Balance," and Korra continues to face more villains while trying to keep the peace.
In the latest episode, "Enemy at the Gates," Korra returned as herself after facing her inner demons and fighting Zaheer's poison. The joy over her return was short-lived, however, after Kuvira appeared with an army in tow and set up camp outside the walls of her hometown, the the metal-bending city of Zaofu.
Kuvira demanded for the city's surrender to the Earth Empire, which Zaofu's founder, Suyin Beifong, refused to do. Korra arrived at Kuvira's camp to act as negotiator and tried to convince Kuvira and her army to leave, but was rejected. After Korra returned to Zaofu, she found out that Su had left the city to sneak into Kuvira's camp for a surprise attack.
Meanwhile, Bolin, Varrick and Zhu Li tried to flee from Kuvira and her army after realizing that Kuvira was not the peacekeeper she said she was. The trio was captured and Zhu Li was able to escape re-education camp by pledging herself to Kuvira, saying she was fed up with Varrick's mistreatment. The fate of Bolin and Varrick remained unknown.
The story will continue in the show's episode six, "Battle of Zaofu." The teaser for the episode hints at a possible assassination. The teaser shows Suyin sneaking into Kuvira's camp and plotting to take her enemy out.
It would not be the first time someone has died on the show. The series has not hesitated to kill off their characters and show it onscreen, such as the Earth Queen's death in Season 3 Episode 10, when Zaheer literally took the Earth Queen's breath away through asphyxiation using his air-bending skills.
