'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' release date, latest news: Game to arrive in time for Nintendo Switch launch?
Despite many reports to the contrary, it looks like "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be landing in March 2017 in time for the Nintendo Switch launch.
Well-known Nintendo Switch insider and video game critic Laura Kate Dale recently revealed on Twitter that despite past reports indicating that "Breath of the Wild" will not make it on time for the Nintendo Switch launch, it is now 100 percent certain that the game will be ready for the gaming console's release this coming March.
According to WWG, there were plenty of reasons to believe that the upcoming "Legend of Zelda" game will be arriving sometime in late spring, or possibly even in the summer. This assumption arose from the rumored development issues concerning the Wii U version of the video game.
The Wii U version of "Breath of the Wild" has reportedly been hitting some snags and has had difficulties meeting performance goals. Because Nintendo had previously expressed their intentions of launching the game on the Switch and the Wii U simultaneously, the developmental hangups of the latter has caused the prospective delay of the former. There are also reports that the game's Wii U version might be abandoned altogether.
However, because of Dale's new revelation, many gaming fans may no longer have to wait for too long. Since Nintendo has yet to confirm or deny this leaked information, fans' questions about the issue may possibly be answered during the company's hosting of its special Switch reveal event on Thursday night, Jan. 12.
"The Legend of Zelda" game franchise is one of the most recognizable games associated with Nintendo. The original version of the action-adventure game was released back in 1986, and the franchise has gone a long way since.
Should the new report prove to be true, the latest "Legend of Zelda" installment, "Breath of the Wild," could be released sometime this coming March, in time for the launch of the Nintendo Switch.
