'The Originals' air date, spoilers, latest news: Will season 4 tackle witchcraft and voodoo?
The upcoming fourth season of "The Originals" will be taking even bigger risks than it ever had before.
Rumors have surfaced that the coming season will be tapping on dark witchcraft and will involve the use of voodoo. Season 4 of the "Vampire Diaries" spin-off will feature a lot of blood spilled, kissed lips, and vows made, as teased by series author Michelle Paradise on Twitter.
Leaks have also surfaced about the title of a few episodes of the forthcoming season. As reported by SpoilerTV, season 4 episode 12 of "The Originals" will have the title, "Voodoo Child." Although the concept of voodoo has yet to be touched by the show, the idea might be used and even expanded for a new story arc should the show have a fifth season.
"The Originals" season 4 has been reported to have only 13 episodes. Its renewal for a fourth season was brought about by the universal acclaim of season 3. However, the show has also lost a large share of their viewing audience, which makes the possibility of a fifth season still unknown.
The premiere episode of season 3 drew 0.894 million viewers, which is 34.74 percent lower than the show's viewer share when the premiere episode of season 2 was aired. The series finale of the third season, on the other hand, gained only 0.847 million viewers.
There will also be an addition to the cast of "The Originals" in season 4. According to TV Line , "Containment" actress Christina Moses has been cast in a recurring role as a bisexual werewolf. Her character Keelin is a smart and resourceful ER doctor, and also the last living werewolf of her line. The rest of her family had been hunted to the point of extinction and she has been hiding and avoiding people since.
"The Originals" season 4 is scheduled to premiere on March 17, 2017 on The CW.
