'The Originals' season 4 spoilers: Hayley becomes the Mikaelsons' guardian and savior; Marcel moves up to become the big bad
"The Originals" season 3 left off with the Mikaelsons being defeated and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) once more holding New Orleans, bringing the reign of the Mikaelsons to a close after he stuck Klaus (Joseph Morgan) into a wall of cement.
The last season's finale found Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) making plans to leave New Orleans with her daughter Hope, bringing with her the four Mikaelsons, Freya (Riley Voelkel), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). The four were all in caskets but preserved until she finds out how to bring them back, something that the next season will go into when the show comes back in early 2017.
Executive producer Michael Narducci has teased Hayley's role in bringing the Mikaelsons back and who she might call on for help.
In a TV Line interview he said, "She has a giant puzzle to figure out in order to cure everyone, and given that they're dying from a wolf bite, I think you can guess who she might turn to."
Narducci shared that Hayley is bound to do everything she can think of to help the Mikaelsons, turning to both the real and the dream worlds to find answers to the point that she may call on her dead husband, Jackson, who was a werewolf.
And in her search for answers and a cure, Hayley's Tonkin will be doing a lot of stunts, despite the fact that she hates it. The actress revealed this on TV Line, along with saying that she is not really certain at this point what Hayley may go through.
She quipped, "Knowing me, I'll do one stunt and break my arm because I'm so clumsy."
But she does not believe Hope's first word would be "mama," as Narducci earlier touted in a separate interview.
Narducci said that with everything that has transpired and with the Mikaelsons destroyed, there is no one left for Hope but Hayley, and thus, Narducci said, Hope's first word would be "mama."
Tonkin though thinks it will be "Klaus."
"I feel like she would definitely call him Klaus, not dad. I think she's that kind of daughter that says 'Klaus.'"
In the meantime, with the Mikaelsons all down, Marcel has finally achieved his objective of having Davina avenged. Narducci revealed to TV Guide, "That is just the most exciting prospect for me, to tell the story of Klaus Mikaelson's heir, who has grown in power and is now the most dangerous creature on the planet."
And here now is some more fuel to add to the season four fire of expectation. Although Marcel was not expected to become the bad guy he now is, it cannot be denied that he has now become more powerful and much stronger.
But the next season may happen to answer such questions as, how will he act as the new king? Can he avoid falling into the same mistakes as Klaus?
It is bound to be an exciting next season, but an excruciating wait for the time being for fans of "The Originals."
