'The Sims 4' news 2016: Developer may no longer release console version of game
When the life simulation video game, "The Sims 4," came out in September 2014, many fans were wondering if game developer Maxis will release another installment in the next few years. Amidst rumors and speculations about "The Sims 5," there is no clear indication that the game developer is working on the popular video game's fifth installment. Nonetheless, fans should not expect the rumored game title to arrive earlier than 2019.
According to a report by Game N Guide, fans have been expressing their disappointments toward the game developer for failing to release a console version of the current game. Players expected "The Sims 4" to arrive on gaming consoles since its predecessor was available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The titles prior to "The Sims 3" also made it to consoles. Tech experts are now speculating that the current title will never have a console version; however, Maxis might develop "The Sims 5" with a version available to all new gaming consoles.
There are rumors circulating all over the Internet that "The Sims 5" may never happen because its predecessor miserably failed to capture the interest of the gaming community. Although it had its success, the game received low-performance ratings from different gaming websites.
According to a report by Christian Daily, not only did "The Sims 4" receive negative reviews from critics, it also failed to do well in the market. MetaCritic only scored the game 70/100, which is not a good one compared to the 86/100 that its predecessor had gotten when it arrived. Apparently, fans were not happy with the overall performance of the game.
The poor performance of the current game might also have something to do with the fact that "The Sims 4" is only limited to PC platform. According to Neuorogadget, the game developer might consider bringing "The Sims 5" to consoles once they decide to release another title.
