'The Story of God with Morgan Freeman' features actor's journey to find answers to faith's mysteries

"The Story of God with Morgan Freeman" series is set to air in April and feature the actor's journey all around the world in a quest to find answers to faith's biggest mysteries.

In a press release for "The Story of God with Morgan Freeman," the actor said he traveled to almost 20 cities worldwide in search of God. After experiencing the different religious practices all over the world, Freeman has observed that all denominations share the same aspiration to become part of something bigger.

"Over the past few months, I've traveled to nearly 20 cities in seven different countries on a personal journey to find answers to the big mysteries of faith," said Freeman in the press release. "... In some places I found answers, and others led to more questions. The constant through it all is that we're all looking to be part of something bigger than us. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that we certainly are."

The six-part series by Morgan Freeman, Revelations Entertainment, and the National Geographic Channel, will air in 171 countries and in 45 languages. Each chapter will run for an hour and discuss the different aspects of God, the report details.

An exclusive preview of the series shows its first five minutes, in which Freeman recalls the time his grandmother and brother died when he was barely 18. The actor says some people are sure they will see their loved ones someday in heaven, but he wonders aloud what really happens when one dies.

On Apr. 3, the episode will tackle what happens after death, followed by a discussion on the Apocalypse on Apr. 10. The third chapter will talk about Creation and where humans came from, and the fourth will explore how people's perception of God has changed. The May 1 chapter will talk about the devil, and the last chapter on May 8 will explore how one's perception of miracles affect faith.

When asked about how he can relate to God's story at present, Freeman said he sees himself as a student of religion who has not yet arrived at a conclusion. Although science has come up with answers to some of life's biggest question, he thinks there are still a lot of unanswered questions.

"The Story of God with Morgan Freeman" will premiere on Apr. 3 at 9 p.m. on the National Geographic Channel.
