There will be a wedding ceremony for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King), but it won't be held to celebrate two souls committing to a special union. Meanwhile, cast reacts to the entire show's final episode, and fans should prepare for tears.

On the next episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, titled "We're Planning a June Wedding," Stefan and Caroline will hold a wedding ceremony, but it won't be to celebrate a lifetime of love ahead.

"A wedding is quickly planned in order for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan to lure a dangerous enemy out into the open. This looming threat puts the fate of Mystic Falls in eminent danger and must be destroyed," the episode's listing from The Futon Critic reads.

As seen from the episode 15 promo, this "dangerous enemy" is none other than Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev).

Damon explained that Stefan's wedding to Caroline is one event that Katherine won't miss and that "she won't be able to control herself," so the queen of hell will make her presence known.

In the previous episode, titled "It's Been a Hell of a Ride," Kai (Chris Wood) revealed that Damon didn't destroy hell by killing Cade (Wole Parks). Instead, they freed hell from Cade's hands and put Katherine as the new ruler.

This enables Katherine to come back to Mystic Falls and take revenge on each and every one of them for killing her daughter and trapping her in hell.

Meanwhile, "The Vampire Diaries" ends with episode 16, titled "I Was Feeling Epic," and according to Wesley, it's going to be a tear-jerking series finale.

Wesley admitted during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that after reading the script for the final episode, he teared up and showed it to series creators Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson.

"It's this very interesting melancholy. I did Stefan's final scene with Elena. ... You're saying goodbye to this time and this moment. The two of us are never going to be playing these characters ever again, and these were really important characters in television for eight years. That's emotional," Wesley explained.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 airs every Friday night at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
