'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 episode 9 spoilers: Group attends Miss Mystic Falls pageant; The CW president teases 'fantastic series finale'
Damon (Ian Somerhalder) remembers Elena (Nina Dobrev) in the upcoming episode of The CW's hit supernatural drama "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
Titled "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," this week's episode features the group coming together to attend a pageant. According to the official synopsis, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon return to Mystic Falls at Sybil's (guest star Nathalie Kelley) request. She will ask the Salvatore brothers to come back since she is still in search of the historical artifact.
Meanwhile, Bonnie (Kat Graham) returns home after her trip in Paris, wearing a vile of Enzo's (Michael Malarkey) blood. Caroline (Candice King) sees it and begins to wonder if she will also become a vampire. In addition, Stefan, Damon, Caroline, Bonnie, and Enzo all attend the Miss Mystic Falls pageant. Things take a different turn when Sybil continues to taunt Damon with memories of his moments with Elena.
The episode will certainly feature flashback scenes featuring Dobrev's character, but fans are still wondering if the former cast member will ever return for a new episode. Similar to the majority of "The Vampire Diaries" fans, The CW president Mark Pedowitz had always been optimistic about reuniting the original trio of Wesley, Dobrev, and Somerhalder. Pedowitz was present during last week's TCA press tour, and although he declined to confirm whether Dobrev will return or not, he shared a teaser about the series finale.
"Julie, Kevin, the studio and the CW promise a fantastic series finale," he said. When asked to elaborate on the uncertainty of the actress' comeback, Pedowitz denied there was any uncertainty. Back in August, the exec revealed that there are talks about Dobrev appearing on the final season. He recently teased that a deal with the show's former lead actress may have been reached.
The eighth and final season of "The Vampire Diaries" airs every Friday night at 8 p.m. ET on
