'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 episode 9 spoilers, news: Sybil torments Damon with memories of Elena; will Nina Dobrev return to play Elena?
Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) will continue to torment Damon (Ian Somerhalder) with memories of his old flame, Elena (Nina Dobrev). Meanwhile, there is still no confirmation whether Dobrev will be reprising her role in the season 8 finale episode.
In the upcoming ninth episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, titled "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," Sybil — who was thought to be dead — will continue pulling Damon and Stefan's (Paul Wesley) strings to her advantage. Sybil will even torture Damon by bringing back memories of Elena.
The synopsis posted on The Futon Critic reads: "Stefan and Damon return to Mystic Falls at Sybil's request as she is still in search of the historical artifact. Bonnie (Kat Graham) returns from Paris wearing a vile of Enzo's (Michael Malarkey) blood making Caroline (Candice King), wonder if she will become a vampire. Stefan, Damon, Caroline, Bonnie and Enzo all attend the Miss Mystic Falls pageant where Sybil continues to taunt Damon with memories of Elena."
TV Line reports that not only will Sybil torture Damon with memories of Elena, but she will also try to replace her in Damon's mind. The photos from episode 9 show Sybil in a striking blue dress going down the staircase, which is similar to a memory that Damon has of Elena.
There is also anticipation whether Bonnie will become a vampire since she is seen to be wearing a veil of Enzo's blood wrapped around her neck.
Meanwhile, there is still no word about Dobrev returning to "The Vampire Diaries" to play Elena once again.
According to Entertainment Weekly, CW president Mark Pedowitz assured that the showrunners will make sure that they will provide a "fantastic series finale," but whether Dobrev will show up still hasn't been confirmed.
However, executive producer Julie Plec shared that the actress has expressed strong feelings to return to the series finale as Elena and "see this character to its end at the end of the show."
