Things between Alaric (Matthew Davis) and Caroline's (Candice King) relationship might not have worked out, but the latter won't be the only one doing great in the moving on phase come "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.

Alaric will get a new love interest in the final season of the supernatural drama in the person of Seline, who will be played by Kristen Gutoskie of "Containment."

"Alaric hasn't had the best luck with women. I don't know if he should be jumping into anything anytime soon, but if he does, the hot nanny would certainly be viable," executive producer Julie Plec told TVLine.

Plec was, of course, referring to newcomer Seline, who will be seeing Alaric and his kids a lot in the new season. Gutoskie's casting for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 was announced back in June.

As per Deadline, Seline is a "warm, nurturing nanny of two young kids by day, and a small-town girl trying to find her place in a dangerous world by night."

Her character description continues, "Bonded to her new 'family' in ways she can't explain, Seline will fight desperately to protect the ones she loves."

This hints that Seline will almost certainly take care of Alaric's twin children in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 and in doing so will allow her to get close to the father of the kids himself.

Alaric definitely deserves to be happy following the recent tragedies that he was forced to endure. Seline will hopefully give him the chance to fall in love again.

However, just like any other newcomers in Mystic Falls, Seline may be harboring a secret or two. Either way, it is too early to think of that right now.

At the moment, the good news is that Alaric gets another shot at genuine happiness in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 so things could be looking good for the father or two in the love department.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
