'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers, updates: Kat Graham teases 'amazing' new villain; Ian Somerhalder frowns on 'Delena' reunion?

Fans are hoping showrunner Julie Plec would keep true to her word and bring Nina Dobrev back for the final season of "The Vampire Diaries." However, if it were up to Ian Somerhalder, he would rather not push through with what fans hope would be a reunion for "Delena."

Dobrev's exit from the series after season 6 proved to be the catalyst for The CW's fantasy vampire drama's downfall. When Dobrev, who played Elena Gilbert, left the show, ratings dropped significantly; thus, it was decided that it should take its final bow.

Plec has previously told various media organizations that she talked to Dobrev, and the latter seemed willing to return to show for its final season should there be a need.

"I'm sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end," she told TV Line. "It would be a real tragedy if we couldn't bring that story back around, full circle."

However, it seems Somerhalder, who portrays Damon Salvatore, isn't as enthusiastic as fans are on the possibility of reuniting with his ex-reel and ex-real girlfriend.

"Happy endings don't happen in Mystic Falls," the International Business Times quoted Somerhalder as saying. "The happy ending I could see is that this girl gets to live her life, never even knowing these two brothers exist."

If it were up to the 37-year-old actor, he would rather have brothers Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) whiling away time in a beautiful Caribbean island as they look up at the moon, drink rum in their Speedos, and just bond like brothers do.

"And when the sun comes up, they should have their final toast, give each other a hug, throw their rings into the sea, and (turn to dust)," he added. "That's a happy ending. They're in a great place with great lives."

Meanwhile, Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie, recently talked to E! News, and according to her, she already feels nostalgic filming the final season.

"We're already feeling that nostalgia, we're already missing each other," she admitted.

Graham said fans should watch out for "cool new characters" and solid storylines, even teasing that the final season's villain would be an "amazing female badass."

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premieres Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
