'The Walking Dead' drops official synopsis for the rest of its seventh season

"The Walking Dead" season 7B promo still | AMC

It will not be another month before new episodes of "The Walking Dead" start to make their way on air. However, AMC dropped some new intel regarding what fans can expect from the brewing rebellion led by Rick (Andrew Lincoln) against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his cohorts.

The official synopsis for the next eight installments of the juggernaut series is quite lengthy, but the tone sounds optimistic, with the midseason finale happening hinted to not always be the theme moving forward. It can be remembered that by the end of the first half of "The Walking Dead," Rick has come to his senses and about to finally stand against Negan following a submissive stint. The group meets Maggie (Lauren Cohan) in the Hilltop community where an escaped Daryl (Norman Reedus) was also hiding. From there, the team leader takes on his gun again symbolizing that he is ready to fight back.

However, the massive task of declaring war against the heavily armed Saviors will prove to be too much for the Alexandrians alone, which is why recruiting other groups including that of King Ezekiel will be crucial in taking on Negan. Presumably, much of the struggle initially will come from convincing other communities to partake in the rebellion.

"Victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. The lengths Rick and the group will have to go to in order to find weapons, food and new fighters is nothing short of remarkable," an excerpt from the description reads.

However, in an intriguing turn, a budding treachery is also teased for the rest of the season for the post-apocalyptic show. The synopsis did not give any hint on which side the betrayal of trust will spring from but it is important to note that Dwight (Austin Amelio) has long been primed to turn the tables on Negan. Especially after everything he went through because of him.

"We'll meet new survivors in incredible places. We'll see Rick and the group tested in ways we've never seen before. We'll see treachery from people we trust. Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army," the description continues.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 is scheduled to return to air Feb. 12 on AMC.
