'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Eugene Exposed As A Fake; Flashbacks To Tie Up Loose Ends

As "The Walking Dead" Season 5 approaches its mid-season mark, the hopes that Eugene (Josh McDermitt) would emerge as a messianic figure against the zombocalypse have been dashed.

The post-apocalyptic horror drama series, more popularly known as "TWD" to its fans, airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. over AMC.

In Episode 5 titled "Self-Help," Eugene was exposed as a fake. He had pretended to know a lot having faked his credentials only to be revealed as a pretentious fraudster.

Meanwhile, in Episode 6, titled "Consumed," Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and fan favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) are shown together again, which could confuse fans who are used to linear storytelling, the kind that goes from point A to point B, as far as the plot is concerned.

Spoilers show a scene of a van that drops off a bridge, and Carol getting hit by a car with a cross painted on it. It's possible that if these scenes appear in Episode 6, then they will be part of the logical explanation (for example, how Carol and Daryl got separated) that will come in the form of flashbacks.

The use of flashbacks can tie up any loose ends about Carol's sudden appearance at the hospital where Beth Green (Emily Kinney) was by the end of Episode 4 ("Slabtown") as well as Daryl's return to the church grounds with an unknown companion, possibly Noah (Tyler James Willams), back in Episode 3 ("Four Walls and a Roof").

In that particular scene, as Michonne (Danai Gurira) saw Daryl exiting from the shadowy stand of trees at the edge of the church grounds, Daryl said "Come on out" to his mystery companion. If Season 6 shows that companion as Noah, then the storytelling is back on track and no more confusion will result.
