"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman recently hinted at why Glenn (Steven Yeun) could be the one who gets killed off in the show's highly anticipated season 7 premiere.

Kirkman recently showed up at the New York Comic Con (NYCC), where he talked about the "The Walking Dead" comics and even dropped a clue or two about the AMC zombie apocalypse drama's fast-approaching seventh season.

The "The Walking Dead" author was joined on stage by "The Walking Dead" editor Sean Mackiewicz and comedian Jason Mantzoukas. The discussion mostly revolved around the comics, with Kirkman revealing that he had almost killed off Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) at the end of the "Something to Fear" arc.

According to Kirkman, who is an executive producer on "The Walking Dead," Negan's final moments were supposed to involve Rick (Andrew Lincoln) presenting Negan's head in a box to Maggie (Lauren Cohan) at the Hilltop community. This would have been sweet revenge for Negan's murder of her husband Glenn.

But while various cast and crew members of "The Walking Dead" have previously confirmed that the TV storyline won't follow what occurs in the comic books, Glenn superfans still worry that their favorite "The Walking Dead" character will be the one at the receiving end of Negan's wrath in the season 7 premiere.

During Kirkman's appearance at the NYCC, one such fan spoke up and begged Kirkman to spare Glenn because he is the only Asian in the show.

"There is a very good chance you will be very happy," Kirkman responded. "There is a very good change you will be very upset," he continued.

"I won't be there, so I won't care," he added.

Kirkman also explained that he has always been conscious about including minorities and portraying them as realistically as possible in the comic book series and in the TV show.

"Am I going to keep this guy alive because he's Asian?" he asked. "Then I'm being racist in a different kind of way," Kirkman continued.

"Just know this: Whoever dies, they were dead this time last year or earlier. So anything you're saying right now is completely pointless," he said.

Last month, Morgan spoke to AMC about what fans can expect from the show's upcoming season, saying, "You need to be very careful about what you wish for because you are going to get it and more this year."

"The Walking Dead" season 7 debuts Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
