'The Walking Dead' season 7B spoilers: Cast member hints character's major betrayal, Daryl prepares to exact revenge
One of the good guys turns to the dark side when AMC's "The Walking Dead" season 7 returns next month.
The back half of season 7 picks up with the Alexandrians and their allies teaming up to fight against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Trust is one of the most important things during a war, but unfortunately, one major character is bound to show disloyalty. Lennie James, who plays Morgan Jones in the series, recently caught up with Comicbook.com, and he teased that the impending war to stop Negan's reign of terror will bring out the worst in some characters.
"There are some people who go to the dark side who are going to take you by surprise, and there are some people who are going to come over to the light – and that's all a matter of perspective," the actor said.
On another note, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) went through a lot this season after he was kidnapped and tortured by Negan. He managed to escape in December's midseason finale, and now, he is ready to exact revenge. According to Reedus, his character's grief has turned into rage and he will stop at nothing until he makes the people who hurt him pay.
"He's ready to fight. When he goes back in that last episode and hands Rick back his stuff, it was like, 'Let's go! Let's go beat this guy up. Let's go take what's ours and fight this monster.' So, you know, he's in kill mode," Reedus teased.
The actor went on to explain that Daryl's anger was fueled by the memory of watching his friends brutally die at the hands of the merciless leader. His time in the hole made him think about Abraham and Glenn's tragic death, so now he wants to make Negan pay. Although he previously blamed himself for what happened, Reedus teased that Daryl no longer feels that way.
"He took it very personal, and felt like it was his fault and he was deserving what he was getting," he added. "Now he's ready to get revenge. He's ready to go kill everybody."
The seventh season of "The Walking Dead" returns on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
